A: Yes, the Parasitology Laboratory is a public health reference laboratory for all parasitic diseases detected or suspected in patients who are residents of New York State.

A: No, the Parasitology Laboratory only accepts samples from permitted laboratories or licensed physicians.

A: Yes, samples are only accepted if they are accompanied by a completed IDR (Infectious Diseases Requisition) form. Please see the Laboratory Services _[1]page to determine whether an additional NPL (Non-Permitted Laboratory Test Request) form is necessary. Both forms are found on the Laboratory Services page.
