Thomas Bartlett, PhD

Dr. Thomas Bartlett attended the 2026 conference for the American Society of Microbiology’s premier annual meeting held in Washington, DC, from June 3-7.

Dr. Bartlett convened the Mechanism Discovery session at the conference, titled “From the Inside Out: From the Cytoplasm to the Wall, and Beyond.” Dr. Bartlett’s invitation as a convener at this major conference attests to his recognition as a leader in the scientific community. Attending talks and poster sessions, as well as meeting with scientific vendors, ensures Dr. Bartlett stays current with key technical innovations relevant to his laboratory’s work on bacterial envelope biogenesis, supporting the continued development of a federally funded research program.

Dr. Bartlett’s attendance increased the Wadsworth Center's visibility within the bacterial cell biology and microbial mechanisms community and directly supported his research program on Staphylococcus aureus cell envelope growth and division, with the long-term goal of improving our understanding of this important pathogen and supporting the public health of New Yorkers.
