A National Institutes of Health (NIH) Training Grant (T32) titled “RNA Science and Technology in Health and Disease” was awarded to the University at Albany, State University of New York, for $1.8 million over the next five years to support seven RNA Fellows each year from the graduate education programs that comprise the RNA Institute.

From the Wadsworth Center, Sean Jones in the Ghosh Laboratory, Lia Prager from the Paczkowski Laboratory, and Phillip Weeber from the Wade Laboratory have each been selected for NIH sponsorship in the class of RNA Fellows for 2025 to 2026. Fellows receive a Research Assistant appointment that covers a stipend, health insurance and tuition benefit (NYS-resident level).

Wadsworth Center principal investigators share their time and expertise with the University at Albany through their appointments in the College of Integrated Health Sciences and the RNA Institute with mutually beneficial goals of training the next generation of young scientists. With this support, these Wadsworth Center Division of Genetics Fellows will develop and apply cutting-edge, RNA-based studies to research antibiotic resistance and cell-cell communication between cystic fibrosis pathogens in support of public health in New York State.

Congratulations to Sean, Lia and Phil!
